Eligibility Requirements
As per the American Legion: If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.
New Membership
Fill out the Membership Application, print it and come on into the post with either your ACTIVE Military id, DD214, or Discharge paperwork. VA medical cards are not proof enough. If you need help with obtaining a copy of your DD214, you can submit an ONLINE REQUEST with National Archives, or MAIL/FAX this form.
Transfers
Veterans applying for transfers from your current Post to our Post must submit the following:
a. Completed Member Data Form.
Renewals/Reprint/Information Update
Open your browser of choice and head to https://mylegion.org. In the upper right corner, click on either the “LOGIN” or “REGISTER” link . If you don’t remember if you have registered, click the “REGISTER” link and the system is able to determine if you previously registered.
Once you are logged in, on the upper right side of the screen there is a big yellow button “MY ACCOUNT”
- On the My Account page, center top, there is a My Contact Information. If you need to update your address press the Edit link to the Right of your Name.
- On the My Account page, if you need to renew your membership, click on the “Membership Renewal Quick Pay”.
- For renewals, you can also visit https://www.legion.org/renew to renew your membership if you can’t find the Quick Pay button
To print your current membership card, you can visit https://mylegion.org/PersonifyEbusiness/My-Account/Membership-Card or click on the Membership Card link on the left side under your your account.

Eligibility Requirements
All male descendants adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918, or any time from December 7, 1941, to date, who served honorably, as set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.
New Membership
Print an Application and come on down to the post with proof of service.
We will accept many forms of proof of service:
- Marriage certificate stating occupation as a branch of service
- Same documentation as Legionnaire requirements
and if you can't find anything, reach out to the Membership Officer/1st Vice Commander and they will assist you.
