Initially organized by women who were left to deal with day-to-day living while their men went to Europe in WWI, these ladies vowed to continue their supportive role when the veterans of WWI founded the American Legion in 1919. We are the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion. Some of us are veterans ourselves
In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
The American Legion Auxiliary is currently one of the world’s largest patriotic service organizations. With almost 1,000,000 members from all walks of life, they administer hundreds of volunteer programs donating thousands of hours to our community and our veterans. The women and men involved have achieved their own unique identity while working side-by-side with the Sons of the American Legion and Legionnaires. Their interests encompass the entire community.
Our auxiliary ladies and gentlemen are involved in every aspect of the Legion, leading or supporting all events at the post.
